Also, for anyone in the Los Angeles area, I will be making an appearance at a Meet and Greet function at Brookhurst Hobbies, 12188 Brookhurst Street, Garden Grove, CA from 3:00 pm on 15 October. We are planning to have copies of the new Mustang book at this function too. I will look forward to seeing HyperScale's Los Angeles visitors there!

Pat Johnston joins Lu Rodriguez as a new Moderator of the Missing-Lynx 1/48 scale Forum. I am sure that Pat's magnificent work in this scale will be known to most of you, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to this new role.
I finished my Tamiya 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang this week, so the Gallery has been updated with two new images (one as the title image, another at the bottom of the page) and commentary. Decals are a new release by Xtradecal, by the way. This model, along with others by Roy Sutherland and Mark Glidden, will be described in detail in the forthcoming ADH Publishing book, "How to Build Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang". This will be available for pre-order very soon. Stay tuned!
Ted Taylor has wasted no time building the new Airfix 1/72 scale Vickers Valiant BK.MK.1 in a new article on his "Ted's Modelworks" HobbyVista site. 15 images of the model, under construction and complete, are included.
Because flood waters continue to disrupt traffic on Interstate 29 near Omaha, the 2011 IPMS Nationals website has suggestions for those who planning to use I-29 to drive to Omaha from the north and south. Traffic from the east and west on I-80 is not affected and all roads are open between Omaha's airport, Eppley Airfield, and the rest of the city. See http://www.ipmsusa2011.org/index.cfm?mode=news for the specific information.

Mike Rinaldi presents a detailed and lavishly illustrated tutorial entitled "Oil Paint Rendering - an Introduction". 31 captioned step-by-step images accompany Mike's text. Although this article is posted on Missing-Lynx, it has plenty of relevance to aircraft modellers too.
I have made more progress on Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang this week, so the Gallery has been updated with four new images (one as the title image, with the three other new images at the bottom of the page) and commentary. This model, along with others by Roy Sutherland and Mark Glidden, will be described in detail in the forthcoming ADH Publishing book, "How to Build Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang". More details will be posted closer to publication.
Chris Wauchop brought his breathtaking 1/32 scale Zoukei-mura Focke-Wulf Ta 152 H-1 around yesterday. We have three photos of the model in the Gallery today. A big article on this model will feature in the fifth issue of the newest magazine from ADH Publishing, "Military Illustrated Modeller".
I received a unexpectedly large number of responses to my reviewer request last week. I have now decided on a short list of new reviewers, based on their area of specialisation amongst other things. I did not get a chance to respond personally to all the emails, but thanks to everyone who indicated their interest.

I have been neglecting my HyperScale updating duties over the last few days because I have been distracted by Tamiya's 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang. What a breathtaking kit! I should have the fuselage sealed up tomorrow, but in the meantime I have posted a Gallery of six photos of some of the work so far.
We have exciting news for modern aficiandos too. Kinetic Model Kits has just announced a forthcoming 1/48 scale C-2A Greyhound, due for release in September. The kit is available for pre-order now from Lucky Model.
I will be away from my desk for most of the rest of this week (not building the Mustang unfortunately), so updates will be sporadic.

I have just been advised that the server hosting company will be doing some maintenance tomorrow, and the servers may be off the air for up to two hours on Saturday from 1:00 AM – 3:00 AM US CDT. I apologise for any inconvenience.
It appears that a few bugs crept into the What's New page HTML over the last few days, mainly I think due to its size. I have now archived the entries from October 2010 to the end of May 2011, and fixed the other coding problems so the page should load properly. The archived content may still be accessed at the bottom of the page. The links for yesterday's reviews were playing up too, but they are both working fine now:
For our UK visitors, Margate’s Big Event featuring the Airfix Air Show takes place on this weekend, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June. The Avro Vulcan bomber and the Red Arrows display team will be the main stars of the Airfix Air Show. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be returning to the area again, while the Tigers parachute team will be jumping into the sea off Margate Main Sands. There is plenty of family fun on the ground too, with bands, food, a fairground and much more. Additional information is available on the Airfix webiste.
We have a slightly belated new topic on Theme Pics - "INVASION STRIPES". Show us your Allied aircraft in any scale wearing black and white invasion stripes for D-Day and beyond. We'll look forward to seeing your stripy models!
EagleQuest 2011 is almost upon us again. EagleQuest XX will run from June 23 to June 25, with special guests including noted researcher and prolific author David Doyle, Marcus Nicholls from Tamiya Model Magazine International and Ken Schofeldt of Badger Airbrush fame. You can also meet Matthew Wells, Mike Kirchoff, Mike Mummey, Jef Verswyvel and more. I was lucky enough to attend this show last year, and I had a great time - highly recommended!
