Barracuda Studios has been in business now for over 14 years! As thanks to their loyal customers, they are celebrating with a sale. All Barracuda Studios products are on sale until 11:59 pm on Monday, February 28, Pacific Standard Time. Barracuda Studios only does one big sale a year around this time and there are quite a few products that have been released since last year's sale, so now's a great time to stock up. Time is ticking away, so don't delay or you may miss out!

Hi all. I've been receiving reports again recently about scammers on the Plane Trading Forum. The safest course is to only deal with people who have a HyperScale username AND have a history of posting. You can check how long they have been a registered member by hovering over the member's photo in the left column of the Forum. If you can't find any posts, ask them to send you a Forum Internal Message. New members should be considered suspicious. Anybody who insists that you to pay via PayPal's "Family and Friends" (which is non-refundable) is another red flag. Finally, if a deal looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

  • In today's HyperScale Video Workshop, I unbox the brand new IBG1/72 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 Early Version and Fw 190 D-15 Torpedo Bomber kits. These are two very nice kits and I will write up a more detailed in-box review in the coming days.

  • Graham Carter reviews Brengun's 1/72 scale F/A-18E/F Hornet Engine Nozzles. Five images of the resin parts and packaging are included.

  • Roland Sachsenhofer presents Eduard's all-new 1/48 scale Zlin Z-226T Trener in a new Feature Article. 17 images of the model complete and under construction are included.

New Year's Day, 2022 - HyperScale's 25th Year Online!

It would not be New Year without Corbin Haldane's new HyperScale banner artwork. Thanks to Corbin for his long-time commitment and for the 2022 HyperScale banners, marking HyperScale's 25th year online.

Wishing the whole HyperScale community a happy and healthy New Year and a much improved 2022.

I'm taking a few days off during the Christmas / New Year period. The Forums will be as lively as ever and I will be back at HyperScale's "What's New" desk next Monday, 3 January.

  • In today's HyperScale Video Workshop, I unbox the new ARMA Hobby 1/72 scale P-51B/C Mustang. Looks like we may have a definitive 1/72 scale P-51B/C at last. BTW, there is a second style of pilot's seat on the smaller sprue and options for several variations of the F6C reconnaissance Mustang in the box. And the third style of lower cowl panel is louvered! So much to see here...

  • I am very sad to report the passing of Mike McEvoy, a legend of the scale model community who is best known for his iconic Tailpiece column in Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine and more recently for his Grumpy Old Modeller website. I was fortunate to meet and chat with Mike on a number of occasions at various Scale Model World shows. I offer my sincere condolences to Mike's family and many friends.

  • In the description of my unboxing video last Friday, I incorrectly typed 1/72 but the new Airfix Vampire F.3 is of course 1/48 scale. You can still check out the video here on the What's New or on YouTube.

  • On Missing-Lynx, Eric Christianson presents a new article on painting and finishing his Dragon 1/35 scale Sd.Kfz. 1381 Geschutzwagen 38 H fur s. JG.331. Eleven images are included.

  • Graham Carter reviews Brengun's 1/144 scale Kubelwagens. Two Kubels are included in this set. Five images of the kit's resin and photo-etched parts are included.

  • In today's HyperScale Video Workshop, I unbox the new Airfix 1/48 scale de Havilland Vampire F.3 and share my first impressions. BTW, if you want to build an FB.5, it would appear that most of the parts are in the box already, including the clipped wing tips, the long stroke U/C legs, along with the FB.9 style stbd intake acorn which was fitted to some FB.5s. Add some rocket rails from the spares box and after market decals and you'll be there! Thanks to David Roberts for the additional information.
